Fix Rows With the Wrong Number of CSV Columns

If some CSV rows have more or fewer fields than the header, many databases, CRMs, spreadsheets, and import tools will reject the file or shift data into the wrong columns. CSV Preflight detects those row-width mismatches before import.

What “inconsistent column count” means

  • The header defines the expected number of fields.
  • Every data row should normally contain that same number of fields.
  • Missing delimiters can produce too few columns.
  • Unexpected delimiters inside data can produce too many columns.
  • Commas inside text need correct quoting when comma is the delimiter.

CSV Preflight compares row structure across the file and flags width mismatches. It also checks related problems such as blank rows, duplicate headers, whitespace, and suspicious values, helping you see whether the column-count error is isolated or part of a larger cleanup problem.

How to check the file

  1. Open Nexron CSV Preflight.
  2. Drop in or choose your CSV file.
  3. Review the import-readiness score and diagnostics.
  4. Fix issues yourself, or unlock Nexron's safe repair and report for $3.99.

CSV Preflight processes the file locally in your browser. The tool is designed to diagnose common CSV import problems, not to guarantee compatibility with every third-party importer.
